Greater Hume is a great place to live and work

The Henty Machinery Field Days is the largest event on the agricultural calendar in southern NSW and is located in the heart of the Greater Hume Council – one of the state’s most productive agricultural areas.

Agriculture, forestry and fishing is Greater Hume’s largest output generating sector, supporting an estimated annual output of $441 million. This industry sector is also the largest employer with 1125 jobs which represents 32 per cent of total employment in the region.

The proximity to jobs and higher level services and short commute times to Albury, Wodonga and Wagga Wagga are key drivers for the ongoing growth in population; new residents are attracted to the rural lifestyle, basic services and large residential allotments on offer in the five towns and six villages across the local government area.

Mayor Cr Tony Quinn said Greater Hume offered an affordable option for families to consider.

“Residents enjoy relaxed living and access to modern local sporting and community facilities,” Cr Quinn said.

This is combined with the current median house price of $391,000 (as at December 2022 quarter) and industrial zoned land in Holbrook and Jindera, means Greater Hume is ready to support business and families to live a greater life.
