Trac Mac Raptor feeder means less wastage, residue and pasture damage
Trac Mac Farm Equipment will be introducing the all new Trac Mac’s Raptor large square bale feeder for the first time at Henty, and it is an entry in the Machine of the Year Award.
After receiving a request from a local dairy farmer looking for a machine to feed out his large square bales more efficiently and consistently, the team from Trac Mac Farm Equipment researched, designed and built the all new Trac Mac’s Raptor Large square bale feeder.
Unlike most large square bale feeders that tends to break the bales up biscuit by biscuit, the Trac Mac’s Raptor breaks the bales up more consistently leaving less wastage, residue and damage to the pastures.
This was important to the farmer as they had found where large portions of hay were dropped onto the pasture, they were left with rings of mud and dead grass.
The Raptor’s design carries and simultaneously feeds out the two large square bales together and the bales are loaded on their sides making it much easier to remove the strings.
The hydraulicly driven rear mounted rotor breaks up the bales, while a unique twin ram push bar system pushes the bales into the rotor via a variable speed control valve.
The adjustable windrow guards at the rear then allows the operator to control the width of the feed row.
The Raptor also makes a great straw spreading machine for evenly applying straw into herd homes, calving sheds or pads and calf sheds.
With the ever-increasing cost of saw dust and wood chips, many farmers are turning to bedding straw as an alternative.
The whole system only requires only one set of remotes to operate with around 45 litres per minute oil flow, making it suitable to use behind smaller utility sized tractors. The Raptor is also fitted with a drawbar skid making it easy to use with a 3PTL quick hitch.
This allows the operator to use the same tractor to load and tow the machine, allowing them to carry additional bales out for extra capacity.
