Clever Gate Co revolutionising farm gates with innovative design
An innovative full-swing farm gate invented by fifth-generation cattle farmers is an entry in the Henty Machine of the Year Award.
Rodney and Kylie Gorton, of Clever Gate Co, found problems with stock caught behind gates or bumping it closed, not allowing the rest of the stock to move forward.
With his farming can-do attitude and a fitting and machining background, Rodney took to the workshop and created a revolutionary, self-aligning, double-hinged farm gate to solve this problem.
The result is The Clever Gate which offers farmers a durable, practical solution enhancing livestock safety, their own safety and farm efficiency.
The innovative design, unlike any other on the market, ensures the gate swings fully in either direction and aligns seamlessly with the fence when open, eliminating any protrusion into the paddock.
No more stock getting caught behind a gate or gates in the way.
The Clever Gate swings fully both ways and is fully hot-dipped galvanised black steel after fabrication.
It has custom made graduated mesh safe for all livestock including horses, cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. The mesh is inset welded to reduce rub points and prevent weld failures.
“Frequent cattle grazing between paddocks necessitated leaving gates open, which posed a safety challenge. Conventional gates, when swung open, often protruded into paddocks, risking injury to the stock, farmer or machinery, or inadvertently closing and block access,” Rodney said.
“Whether you are using concrete, timber or steel posts, our Clever Gate fits effortlessly, simplifying installation. Simply replace your old gate on the gudgeon pin and start swinging.
“Australian designed and built to last, this gate is an investment in your farm’s efficiency. The gate minimises potential accidents, making solo farm tasks safer.”
The Clever Gate is located at the Henty Machinery Field Days at site 852a.
