Welcome message from the HMFD Chairman
Welcome to the 60th year that Henty Machinery Field Days has been in operation.
As I think back on what our forebears have experienced in the last 60 years of agriculture in Australia, I can see the same resilience within the Henty Machinery Field Days organization. Agriculture has seen great seasons, positive commodity prices and droughts and recessions during this time.
Henty Machinery Field Days has experienced the lows of cancellations during the agriculture recession in the early 70’s and again in 2020-2021 because of covid restrictions.
The resilience of this organisation and its members allowed us to return in 2022 stronger than before with record numbers resulting in the most successful year in our 60-year history.
It gives us great encouragement that our field days still has a place in the hearts of both the farming and non-farming communities alike after our two-year absence.
Former Henty Machinery Field Days secretary and committee member, Milton Taylor CBE, passed away earlier this year. Milton was instrumental in the initial years of the field days, driving the committee to begin and continue an agricultural field day.
Milton was also a passionate advocate for agriculture and served on many other committees in the sector. His invaluable contribution the Henty Machinery Field Days the incredibly successful agricultural event that we see today.
Highlights for all to experience at this year’s field days include Henty Machine of the Year, Greater Hume Council Best Australian Designed and Manufactured Award, Natural Fibre Fashion Awards, Exhibitor Awards, the new AgriTech Innovation Awards, vintage machinery including the Upton tractor display, Baker Seed Co agronomy plots and the popular sheep dog trials.
Thank you to our sponsors ANZ, Telstra, Barlens, The Border Mail, Dunn’s Twin City Cranes, Redi 2 Hire, RB Sellars, Hutcheon & Pearce, Inspector General for Water Compliance, Lowe’s Petroleum Services, Hypro, Skylift and Maxi-Tankers.
