Telstra deploys over 4700 sites with 4G and 5G coverage
Telstra has a strong connection to rural and regional Australia dating back over 100 years.
“We have a long history of investing in the communities and over the past seven years, we’ve invested $11 billion in our mobile network nationally, with $4 billion of this invested in our regional mobile network,” Telstra Riverina and Central West NSW Regional Engagement Manager David Saunderson said.
Telstra offers the largest 4G and 5G coverage area of any other mobile network. As of June 2023, Telstra has deployed 5G to more than 4700 sites within selected areas of more than 400 major and regional cities.
“Telstra 5G now covers more than 85 per cent of the Australian population and we’re continuing to invest, expanding 4G and 5G coverage by 100,000 square kilometres by June 2025,” Mr Saunderson said.
“Part of how we’ll expand our coverage is by closing our 3G network on June 30, 2023, so we can repurpose the bandwidth for 4G and 5G.”
Mr Saunderson said providing connectivity in a country as vast and sparsely populated as Australia was hard work.
“But it’s also incredibly important as the digital economy grows. Our team is on the ground, listening and working hard to keep regional and rural communities connected, no matter where they are located.”
Telstra is a proud sponsor of the Henty Machinery Field Days and will be at site 508.
