Free hair cuts at the NSW DPI beyond fossil diesel interactive display
NSW Department of Primary Industries hydrogen powered hair cut demonstration trailer will once again offer free haircuts to Henty Machinery Field Days visitors in its renewably powered mobile barber shop themed as a shearing shed.
The trailer, which has done 25,000km around NSW and provided hundreds of quality haircuts to farmers so far, demonstrates hydrogen fuel cell, solar photovoltaic and lithium-ion battery storage technologies in a practical application.
The H₂Cuts trailer will this year be towed to Henty by the new P2X Express truck, the first heavy hybrid truck powered by both electricity and green diesel in the NSW Government’s fleet.
NSW DPI has sourced Australia’s first shipment of Neste’s renewable diesel HVO100 fuel to power P2X EXPRESS a fuel which is chemically identical to fossil diesel but burns cleaner without the normal aromatics and is a true net zero fuel, with drop replacement well suited to the needs of agriculture.
Both the truck and trailer will be on display at NSW Local Land Services site so visitors can speak with Michael, John and the shearing team about options within the agriculture sector to reduce energy costs and move towards low or zero emissions energy sources.
The initiative funded under the NSW Decarbonisation Hub allows free haircuts powered by hydrogen at field days and other events and the opportunity for customers to seek information about energy efficiency measures to reduce on-farm energy costs and emissions will be available.
