Ambitious building program results in first class facilities
Scotch College Melbourne’s Boarders’ precinct, affectionately known as “the Hill”, is about to unveil its new senior wing and parent retreat.
The College deeply values its boarding community and continues to invest in new facilities that enhance the lives of our boarders, their families and the staff who care for them.
The Boarding Project, an ambitious building program started in 2018, has transformed the school’s residential facilities.
This project sought to provide the best possible experience for boarders, and to foster a “village” environment that integrates the daily lives of the boys with the families of the staff who care for them.
The Parent Retreat provides a dedicated space for parents, who often travel long distances to visit their sons, to refresh and relax, and to interact with each other over a coffee or garden barbecue.
It is a beautiful and serene environment at the heart of the boarding precinct and links to the Village Green, an open communal space for boarding families to enjoy.
The new Senior Wing is an impressive upgrade of the boarding house accommodation.
“Our senior boys play a crucial role within the boarding community, adding to the esprit de corps and pastoral environment of each of the three houses that accommodate the boarders and their residential staff,” Dean of Boarding Tim Byrnes said.
“These new, generously sized rooms provide the boys with a homely, purpose-designed base and include separate living and increased study spaces”.
Scotch College caters for more than 160 boarders, predominantly from rural Victoria and NSW, and is Victoria’s oldest and largest boys’ boarding school.
Boarders are entwined in every strand of the vibrant Scotch tartan, and enrich the experience of each Scotch boy, family and member of staff.
The school is attending the Henty Machinery Field Days and welcomes all Scotch past, present and future families to visit their booth in the Country Lifestyle pavilion.
