It will be the sixth year the Koolaman girls, Stacey Clayton and Lisa O’Keefe, have exhibited at the Henty Machinery Field Days.
“Some of my earliest memories are from following Dad around the Henty field days, some years of dust and sunshine and others of mud and rain but always fantastic day out,’’ Stacey said.
The sisters proved their entrepreneurial spirit when they started their business living 450km apart in rural Victoria and New South Wales.
As the Founding Directors of Koolaman, they have created a truly priceless gift experience; and helped pioneer the Australian online retail industry along the way.
Back in 2007 when they created their bespoke fine jewellery business, e-commerce was in its infancy. Lisa and Stacey’s vision harnessed this new technology to establish an online business. In the process, they revived centuries-old artisan skills to create bespoke symbols of love.
In a time when remote and regional economies are contracting with people moving to the cities to find work, Lisa and Stacey are working against the tide to provide employment opportunities, especially for women.
While modernisation has taken many businesses away from regional areas Koolaman has unlocked the power of technology to reach new markets and provide new opportunities for regional women to thrive.
“Modern technology helps us to reach more people but can never be at the expense of great service,’’ Stacey said.
In keeping with the philosophy of the Henty Machinery Field days, the sisters will be flying the Koolaman flag, rain or shine for the enjoyment of those attending.
“A strong sense of community spirit, mutual respect and care is at the heart of our passion to protect and provide old fashioned personalised service,’’ Lisa said.
“A connection to the land, regional Australia and a powerful entrepreneurial country spirit is at the heart of our success, but also keeps us grounded.’’
