Popular children’s character George the Farmer will star in guest performances at the Hutcheon & Pearce site across the field days.
George the Farmer has been a social media sensation, growing his Facebook page by 200 fans a week, and rates highly on Instagram, Twitter and Youtube.
He will be performing daily at the Hutcheon & Pearce site at 489-498 Block M at 11am and 2pm.
The stage show has been touring nationally including 70 performances at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
George’s down-to-earth manner has universal appeal and he is inspiring city-based children to have a better understanding and connection to agriculture.
George the Farmer was created in regional South Australia to educate children about farming practices while explaining how food and natural fabrics are produced through fun picture books, songs, videos, apps and performance.
The creators, Simone Kain and Ben Hood, won the 2017 South Australian RIRDC Rural Women’s Award, the Google Australia Regional Online Hero Top 10, Brand South Australia Flinders University Education Award and the NAB Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards Rural Entrepreneur of the Year.
There are four picture books, a CD of fun, educational farm songs, and two Australian school curriculum aligned teachers’ guides focusing on wheat/wool and pulses.
