Visitors set for a sensory experience at Farm Gate Market

Farm Gate has been serving up fresh and gourmet regional produce for five years.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn, taste, touch, smell and experience the region’s finest food and wine first hand at Henty Machinery Field Day’s Farm Gate Produce Market.

The market has grown into a key attraction at the field days, which will be held on Tuesday, September 19 to Thursday, September 21.

Featuring over 30 regional exhibitors, the Farm Gate pavilion is located on the southern edge of the field day site and will host cooking demonstrations, and talks by food and wine presenters.

These will include a masterclass from coffee bean roaster and barista Joe Perry, champagne class from winemaker Damian Cofield, and cheese making by Riverina Dairy.

Adding to the atmosphere will be talented young musicians from the Dreamfields mentoring program and UK guest artists Lauren Diffey and Oli Crawford Craig on the Farm Gate stage.

Television celebrity chef James Neeson and his film crew will be filming an episode of “Alive & Cooking” in the Farm Gate kitchen on Wednesday, September 20.

Farm Gate co-ordinator Ordette Mannering, of Albury, is excited about taking part in an event that celebrates this region and its produce.

Ms Mannering said Farm Gate was a growth area of Henty and showcased the fruits of the labours of those working the land.

She said Farm Gate was all about showcasing local product and businesses.

Ranging from bread, farmhouse cheese and wine to preserves, smallgoods, artisan bread, gourmet coffee and cider, the market caters for produce primarily grown and value added in southern NSW and Victoria’s North East.

“There will also be plenty of food vendors selling healthy options, such as Paella,’’ Ms Mannering said.

2017 marks the seventh year of Farm Gate and will feature plenty of cooking demonstrations from guest chef Michelle Matusch.

“With new participants and returning vendors, Henty is a great way for businesses to promote new products and get them tried and tested with a broad market audience,’’ Ms Mannering said.
