The Henty Machinery Field Days community has paid tribute to its longest serving chairman and tireless volunteer Colin Wood upon his passing this week. Colin, who died aged 79 on December 5, was chairman for a record three decades, devoting himself to the field days, juggling activities on his Cookardinia farm to fit around the Henty schedule. A crowd just shy of 60,000 flocked to the 2017 Henty Machinery Field Days to inspect the “agribusiness supermarket’’, showcased by 867 exhibitors on the biggest site area in the event’s history. Held on September 19-21, the 54th annual field days featured 14km of outdoor shop fronts on over 1200 sites. An award winning international designer set the catwalk abuzz and took the Henty Natural Fibre Fashion Awards onto the world stage with her cream lace supreme garment. Central NSW dog trialler Mick Hudson dominated Exelpet Sheep Dog Trial at this year’s Henty Machinery Field Days. Mick, of Eumungerie, and his NSW representative bitch Perangery Marge, won the three sheep trial championship on 262 points and also took second placing with Meg, and seventh with Richie’s Finn.
