A new mobile air rifle range will give sporting shooters a chance to show their skills at the Henty Machinery Field Days.
The fully licenced, 10-metre air rifle range will be staged by the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc, the state’s peak shooting body, for the first time at the field days.
Visitors aged 12 and over can try shooting for free under the one-on-one supervision of a range officer, while minors under 18 will require parental or guardian permission.
SSAA NSW will be running daily safe shooting courses and R-Licence Accreditations over the three days.
There will also be information sessions on SSAA Farmer Assist, a free service helping farmers to manage feral animals.
SSAA Farmer Assist, launched in NSW, at the end of 2015, has been a success in other states including Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.
The program uses a specially designed web portal allowing farmers to source SSAA members to assist with pest animal management issues.
Representatives from the Game Licensing Unit will be at Henty to answer questions on G & R licences and hunting in state forests.
Devil Ark, a charity organisation dedicated to ensuring the survival of the endangered Tasmanian devil, will be at Henty along with a Tasmanian Devil.
Safe Shooting courses will cost $90 for adults and $45 for minors (12-17 years). R-Licence Accreditation will be $35 for adults and $15 for minors.
The daily Farmer Assist information sessions are free.
