Henty field days set to host major new interactive event
A major new interactive three day event is set to be held next March at the Henty Machinery Field Days site in southern NSW.
The Henty 4WD and Outdoor Adventure Expo will be staged by Explore Australia Expo on March 10-12, 2017 and will be the biggest four wheel drive, outdoor and adventure expo in regional Australia.
Henty Machinery Field Days chairman Ross Edwards said the event fitted with the field days strategic plan to make the site a year-round venue for major festivals and events.
Mr Edwards said the location mid-way between Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane, the benefit of 1200 powered sites and extensive infrastructure made the site ideal for large events.
Expo director and events manager Paul Morgan said the event would bring together the elite of the 4WD, touring, camping, fishing and outdoor adventure industries, offering patrons a spy, try and buy experience all in the one location.
“The Henty 4WD & Outdoor Adventure Expo will be designed to engage, inspire and motivate the outdoor enthusiast, with tens of thousands of products on show, educational seminars and entertainment zones, as well as product testing areas for visitor interaction.
“We are excited to bring our style of outdoor adventure exhibition to regional Australia.’’
At Henty, earthworks will be carried out to build a 4WD demonstration track while the agronomy area will be used to stage an interactive display of monster trucks.
A new 120m x 18m long shed to permanently house Country Lifestyle will be used to stage seminars and trade displays during the expo.
With construction to start in July, the shed will have a sealed floor and a 387,000 litre rainwater tank for supplying water across the field day site.
HMFD CEO Belinda Anderson said the expo was an exciting step for the field days co-operative.
“This is the beginning of a long term vision to provide sustainability for the co-operative through utilisation of the considerable infrastructure on the site outside of the field days,’’ Mrs Anderson said.
She said the economic flow-on would benefit the Greater Hume Shire, southern NSW and North-East Victoria.
“The Greater Hume Shire has been instrumental in supporting this development.’’

Mr Morgan attended the Henty Machinery Field Days last year and was inspired by the community, industry, business and economic values.
“This is what has made the Henty Machinery Field Days the success it is today – and we are inspired to deliver an event of equal stature,’’ he said.
“The HMFD venue is perfect for our style of event, providing plenty of exhibition space and interactive areas.
“My team has worked over two years in an effort to bring about change and a far more functional style of exhibition, consumer experience and community based event.
“Explore Australia Exhibitions is committed to the future of Explore Australia Expo and the Henty 4WD and Outdoor Adventure Expo, and we are proud of our true community based, industry focussed, unique style of consumer expo for the 4×4, marine and outdoor adventure markets.’’
