Sarah McAllister has curated the exhibition at the field days.

Murray Arts has developed an exhibition to showcase the region’s best contemporary artists in a completely transportable gallery.

Cargo: art in transit is a professionally curated exhibition which fits within a custom-built gallery space, designed to travel around the region in either the boot of the Murray Arts car and/or trailer.

The custom-built space allows the exhibition to be set up indoors or outside, with no need for traditional gallery fixtures like walls, lighting or hanging systems.

Vivien Naimo, of Murray Arts, said the Cargo – art in transit was more than just a touring exhibition of contemporary artists.

“The entire process of developing a project of this kind – curating and researching it, has been a journey in itself,’’ she said.

“We’ve learnt a lot about the lives of the artists and their ever changing art practices, and we have discovered influential artists and designers.

“The pop-up gallery includes quality educational and interpretive material to increase public awareness and demystify the art making process.’’

Cargo – art in transit will be on display in the VIP Lounge in 9th Farm Avenue.
