Adam Murphy and Demelza Haines have crafted a series of illustrated children’s books.

Disney animator and artist Adam Murphy is set to star in the Country Lifestyle pavilion at Henty with his unique artwork, stationary and illustrated children’s books.

Adam and his wife Demelza Haines founded their business, Welly’s Wonders, in 2013 to create timeless and original designs for babies and children.

All products feature the original work of Adam Murphy, who started work as an animator for Disney at just 15 years of age – one of the youngest animators to ever work for the studio.

He has spent the past 25 years working as a lead artist and animator for Disney, Lucasfilm, Animal Logic and other major film and animation studios.

Adam has worked on some of the world’s biggest film franchises such as The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Lady and the Tramp, Bambi and Lilo & Stitch.

He is busy working on the latest instalment of the Lego Movie franchise.

Adam lives with Demelza in the Illawarra with their son, Llewellyn (Welly), Burmese cat, Boo Radley, and Border Collie, Maisie.

Demelza has a theatre background, training in Theatre Studies at Deakin University and Stage Management at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has worked on more than 25 productions in the UK and Australia.

The Welly’s Wonders’ characters are based on her father’s tales of his childhood in South Wales.

Burton the Brave and Jenkins the Hare are based on her father’s memories and stories of close family friend and actor, Richard Burton (Jenkins being Richard’s actual surname).

The couple’s first illustrated children’s book is called Jenkins the Hare, and its story revolves around arguably their most popular character, Jenkins.

All of their original characters feature in the book as Jenkins sets off on an adventure to find his lost, beloved scarf. It is written by Demelza and features 48 pages of original artwork by Adam.
