For 50 years, the Henty Machinery Field Days has been showcasing technology and innovation in the agribusiness sector.
Now, the field days has embraced digital technology with the launch of a mobile phone app.
At the 2014 event, visitors will be able to use an iPhone, android, tablet, laptop or computer to access the free HMFD app, enabling them to navigate their way around the 105ha site.
The app features an easily navigable menu or links from the home screen, and a complete and up-to-date exhibitor list searchable by name or product category.
Needing no App store, the app works offline and is easily downloaded to all smartphones, tablets, E-readers, laptops and computers.
The app was developed by Hutcheon & Pearce TECSight Integrated Solutions Manager Andrew Watt, of Wagga Wagga.
“There are detailed programs for each day including the Country Lifestyle, Farm Gate and Agri-Centre,’’ Mr Watt said.
“Field day visitors and exhibitors can access interactive maps for navigation and important event information for parking, opening times and emergency services.
“The app includes links to major sponsors and attendees can log in using their email address to personalise their schedule, favourite exhibitors and see event alerts.’’
Mr Watt said banner ads have been included throughout the app exclusively for major sponsors.
HMFD chief executive officer Belinda Anderson said it was important for the field days to demonstrate first-hand innovation.
“This will give visitors instant access to what’s new, different and state-of-the-art at this year’s event,’’ Mrs Anderson said.
“We gratefully acknowledge the role played by one of our largest and longest exhibitors, Hutcheon & Pearce, and the expertise of their technical team at TECSight Integrated Solutions.’’
