Dale Allison and Caleb Richards combined their talents to form the musical duo Hey Diddle Fiddle.

Wagga duo Hey Diddle Fiddle will be back again at the field days this year to keep the toes tapping at the Farm Gate Market Produce food court.

The duo comprises Wagga music store owner Dale Allison and Wagga insurance broker Caleb Richards.

The pair describe their musical style as fast-paced and exciting, with a dash of Irish folk, blue grass, classical and jazz – all stamped with their own flavour.

Caleb Richards grew up on an apple and stonefruit orchard at Batlow, in southern NSW.

“I am from a musical family – my mother is a singer song-writer with Murrumbidgee Magic,’’ he said.

“My Irish ancestory comes through as an influence in my music.

“I started as a drummer in primary school – I practised in the shed as it was far enough away from the house.’’

Richards was 12 when he picked up the violin and never looked back.

“I couldn’t put it down – it was a challenging instrument and I was stubborn, I didn’t want it to get the better of me,’’ he said.

He also teaches drums, guitar and violin, and performs with his wife Alex.

Hey Diddle Fiddle will entertain the crowds at Henty on the Farm Gate stage, at the southern end, from 11.45am to 1.15pm each day.
